Ashley Ads “Special Branch” at work!

Every day brings new and different projects here at Ashley Ads | Signage, Print and Display, and this time Greg, Pete and Mark have got their polishing mops out! 

We are excited to say that we have been entrusted with the cleaning and restoration of the “Branches” sculpture, located in the East Atrium of the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

The sculpture, by award-winning artist Sokari Douglas Camp, has been a part of the hospital since 2002 and is an instantly recognisable piece of art, drawing inspiration from the green countryside surroundings of the hospital and Norfolk Folklore.

It was installed by the Hospital Arts Project, a department entirely funded by grants from organisations and charitable donations, to bring a happy and healing environment for patients and staff at the hospital.

After 21 years the artwork was in need of a little TLC. All 76 leaves were individually assessed, catalogued and templated before careful cleaning. Damaged clear security laminate was made good and adhesive residue cleaned away. The original translucent coloured paints were cut back and polished, and the leaves indexed ready for re-installation at NNUH. 

It has been a delight to work on something so unusual and special, and we have loved working with the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital again.
